Carrie updated this old, worn dresser while still accenting its vintage charm. The curvy legs, modern black and white color scheme, and subtle distressing all come together perfectly! For more info about this black beauty dresser makeover, visit Carrie’s blog Thirty Eighth Street.

Oh, I loved how it looked before. I am just not into black furniture. Sorry!

The comment above is not up on today’s charm and on the in thing in our decorating world. The way you found it would not be acceptable in most homes today. Thank youn for sharing and updating a piece of furniture that had seen its day. Nancy
Such a beautiful job – just love the color. I also love the way she styled it for the photo.

I agree – beautiful dresser and styling! Thanks for your comment, Marie. 🙂
I agree with Rose. Just ruined a gorgeous vintage piece. To each his own I guess. Get a junk piece at the thrift store for this kind of look.
Carla, you would be surprised how many of these exact types of dressers are donated to thrift stores or even abandoned on the side of the road somewhere. I do try to feature a variety of types of furniture makeovers here that would appeal to all different people. I know that not everyone will love every makeover. I do ask my readers to always remain respectful with their comments. Since you took the time to comment on a piece that you do not like, I sincerely hope that you will take the time to comment when you do like something. Thank you.
I liked it a lot better as it was!!! Everyone is painting everything black today…yuk!

You are welcome, Carrie! 🙂
Isn’t it wonderful that we are not all alike? It would be a boring world if we were. Variety is the spice of life. I absolutely love everything about the changes you made, it’s GOURGEOUS!!! Keep up the great work!!
